Castle Facts:

Location: Vic-sur-Cére, in the Cantal departement of France (Auvergne Region).
Built: 12th century.
Condition: Remains.
Ownership / Access: --
Notes: The Castelvielh Vic is the former upper castle of Vic-sur-Cère in the Cantal. There remains a castle mound, some vestiges of masonry and a panoramic view of the valley and the village. The former upper castle site is clearly visible at the end of a rocky outcrop overlooking the city, located outside. The end portion of this spur appears to have been isolated from the rest of the mountain with a gap. The perimeter of the old castle form an oval hill overlooking the north of Vic church. The top of the rock is crowned by an oval enclosure grouted mortar surrounding a rocky stump protruding who probably used seat. Promenade open all year round, beautiful view of the town and the Cère valley to the lead.
