Notes: The Château des Ducs d'Alençon currently designates the entrance pavilion of the old castle of Alencon was destroyed over the centuries. It is the subject of a classification as historical monuments by the list of 1862. In 1804 the establishment of the prison of Alençon in the building led to important work related to this new assignment changing the building and its surroundings (domestic distribution and creation of walls hosting the exercise yards). In 2010, the prison is transferred to the site of Coulaines. The impression may leave the entrance pavilion (the remaining part of the castle) bears witness to the grandeur and splendor of this castle: there is nothing left of Giroye turn ditches formed by the Briante, or well some of the huge park that extended to the forest Ecouves today reduced Promenades park.
