Curtain walls, towers and the gatehouse are registered as historical monuments since July 5 19261 and Notre Dame tower houses since 1970 a "Bonaparte museum."From the eighteenth century Auxonne Auxonne is the capital of the county of the duchy of Burgundy (Auxonne story). In 1412 the first castle of Auxonne (called "the root ball of the old currency") is destroyed to give way to the convent and the site of the current hospital.
