Notes: Château de Brandon is located in the municipality of Saint-Pierre-de-Varennes in Saône-et-Loire, on top of a hill.The buildings are arranged around an irregularly shaped enclosure divided in two by a wall separating the yard from the yard of the house master. The latter, of elongated rectangular shape, is flanked to the northwest and northeast corners of square towers. A wing at right angles occupies the east side; it is connected by a wall pan to a third square tower. Then there farm buildings and stables. A gatehouse located at the southwest corner provides access to this set. The castle, privately owned, is open to the public. It is registered with the additional inventory of historic monuments since June 1975.
