Castle Facts:

Location: Montbellet, in the Saône-et-Loire departement of France (Bourgogne Region).
Built: 12th century.
Condition: Rebuilt in 15th century.
Ownership / Access: Private property and its open to the public.
ISMH Reference Number: PA00113561.
Notes: Château de Buffières is located in the town of Montbellet in Saône-et-Loire, on a small hill.From the old rectangular enclosure, there remains only the wall sections which are based buildings for agricultural use, a corner tower and a massive rectangular keep adjoining a five-sided tower. The castle, private property can not be visited. It is the subject of a registration as a historic monument since April 17 19921. This entry concerns the dungeon, the stair turret screw and the West Tower.
