Notes: The Château de Brest is a castle that dominates the city of Brest above the mouth of the Penfeld and the wide bay that stretches west of Finistère. Oldest monument in the city, it retains for seventeen centuries its original vocation of military fortress in a site of great strategic importance Roman castellum to Vauban citadel, he was constantly redesigned over the centuries to maintain its defense capabilities of any land or sea attack by taking into account the evolution of the technical office and armaments.
