Notes: Château d'Assier is located in the Lot department and the Languedoc-Roussillon region Midi-Pyrenees in the town of Assier. It is an exemplary testimony to the spread of Renaissance art outside the castles of the Loire Valley. Castle Assier, like hundreds of other monuments, state property is managed, lively and open to the public by the Centre for National Monuments.Built between 1518 and 1535 in the style of the new pleasure palaces, it is the work of Jacques Galiot Genouillace first master of arms of Francis. Military genius tactician, he is responsible for the mobile field artillery, fast and accurate, which celebrates invention in war made him Italy and the battle of Marignan in 1515. The castle consisted of a vast quadrangle plan of 40 m square flanked by four massive round towers at each corner topped with domes at the Imperial. Castle Assier, reflecting the exceptional success of a man is a valuable testimony of the Renaissance architecture in Quercy.
