Notes: Château Mennechet is a castle of the late nineteenth century built in the municipality of Chiry-Ourscamp in the Oise, on top of the hill Montconseil. We do not know much about the history of the castle and its Mennechet sponsor of Barival Mennechet Alphonse (1812-1903). Now ruined, the castle was designed in 1880 to receive the artworks of Alphonse Mennechet of Barival: it preserved paintings, sculptures and ceramics in her small manors and wants to develop them in a museum, which motivates the construction of the castle gallery. Mennechet died in 1903 at ninety years, while the castle museum is not completed. The 69 paintings in the collection are then donated to the city of Saint-Quentin. During the First World War, the castle gallery is damaged, while the tower and mansions built by Mennechet also in the municipality of Chiry-Ourscamp destroyed. The castle, damaged again during the Second World War, is never restored. The castle has long been neglected and even close to being demolished (endangering arrested abandoned in 2007). Important work of clearing and cleaning were carried out in 2008 under the leadership of the new owner and led to the discovery of an unknown vault until now.
