Notes: Château d'Arcelot is located in the town of Arceau in the French department of Côte d'Or, canton of Mirebeau sur Bèze. It is the subject of a registration as a historic monument since September 22 and 19482. 30 April 1999 for gardens. The first buildings are the work of Verchère Philibert I, between 1711 and 1720: it is composed of a house of two flats. The current castle was designed at the request of Philibert II, counselor to the Parliament of Burgundy and grand-son of the first. Directed by architect Thomas Dumorey between 1761 and 1764, he was the first neoclassical style castle built in Burgundy. The castle remained in the direct lineage of the builder until 1870, when William Verchère, last of the line, died childless. He bequeathed the castle to his nephew, Ernest de Loisy Plaice. In XXI century, the castle is still owned by the family of Plaice Loisy Arcelot. Behind the castle lies a landscaped park of 45 hectares, a variant of English park (with a pond of 7 hectares), directed by landscape architect Jean-Marie Morel, at the end of the eighteenth century (with a factory: a Chinese Pavilion).
