Notes: Château de Challain-la-Potherie is a castle located on the French town of Challain-la-Potherie in Maine-et-Loire. It was built from 1847 to 1854 in the Gothic Revival style then in vogue among the French aristocracy. Its architect, René Hodé, drew many other castles of the same style in Anjou, but Challain remains the most imposing. Its size and appearance earned him the nickname of "little Chambord."
