This castle was the residence of the archbishops of Arles and the German emperors. This is also from there that takes its name (meaning Empéri emperor in Occitan). Now, with the mossy fountain and Nostradamus, the symbol of the city, it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors. This castle is the subject of a classification as historical monuments since 10 September 1956.
