Notes: Château de La Tour-d'Aigues is a castle located in La Tour-d'Aigues, in the Vaucluse department. The castle of the Tower of Aigues today offers visitors the spectacle of a beautiful building out gradually, state of ruin where the centuries had left. Its long history and various alterations it has undergone is still read in its remains for all attentive and knowledgeable viewer. Recently, the three levels of the dungeon were restored and its facade until then disemboweled, was rehabilitated. During the first two thirds of the twentieth century the building knows that some consolidation work. It hosts the summertime, in his court, operatic performances and dances. It was not until 1974 to see his resurrection begin ... the Vaucluse General Council decides to undertake the restoration of the castle. More than 1000 m2 of cellars are cleared and converted into exhibition spaces, theaters and museums. Southeastern pavilion was rebuilt and today welcomes visitors, the terrace is rehabilitated. More recently, the three levels of the dungeon were restored and its facade until then disemboweled, was rehabilitated. The reopening to the public took place in 1985: the castle was home to two museums, one of the tiles and of the Aigues. Since 1986, exhibitions and shows are held throughout the year in the cellars. A summer festival is held in the Court of Honor. The monument is classified as a historical monument by decree of 21 December 1984.
