Location: Chambles, in the Loire departement of France (Rhone-Alpes Region).
Built: 12th-16th century.
Condition: In good condition.
Ownership / Access: Owned by the department.
Notes: Château d'Essalois is in Chambles overlooking Lake Grangent, in the department of Loire in France. In 1976, the Joint Association of Management of the Loire valley (seven municipalities bordering Lake Grangent) and the department of Loire Castle acquire Essalois. The restoration has continued since 1983 under the direction of Mr. Gilles Michelou, with the help of Lazar, architect of buildings in France. The entire castle Essalois looks great and is by its size and position, one of the scenic highlights of the Loire gorges. It symbolizes the union action planning Combined Gorges of the Loire. The tower is free to visit offering a splendid view of the landscape.
